The Lower Dan Tian
The Dan Tian is a vital aspect of Qigong exercises.
Where is the Middle and Lower Dan Tian?
Referring to areas on the body, the middle and lower dan tian are commonly focused upon during Qigong exercises. On the body, the middle dan tian area is just about 2 inches below the navel (generally located between the top of the pubic bone and the belly button). The lower dan tian is technically the perineum; in males, it is from just in front of the anus to the scrotum, and in females, to the fourchette of the vulva. Concentrating on these two areas while breathing during Qigong is essential.
Benefits
Common benefits are offered from concentrating on these two areas, including longevity, improvement in circulation, and alleviation of stress. However, in the instance of the lower dan tian, there is a marked improvement in the control of the sexual organs during sexual activity. For women, convulsions may be controlled and tightness may occur. For men, orgasm can be delayed so that sexual activity can be prolonged.
Orgasm may be more intense, or there may even be more than one with the same intensity as the first.
This improvement can also extend to better bladder control.
When performing Qigong exercises that focus on these areas, make sure that a sensation is felt in the perineum. This may be a warmth or throbbing, and can be a positive sensation. When breathing in, the area may also feel as if it is being pulled upwards, into the body.
