The Top 5 Benefits of Children and Kids Martial Arts Classes
Not sure whether martial arts is appropriate for your child? Don't think that teaching children traditional kung fu is a bad idea. The term "martial arts" may have a negative connotation, but it's actually a wonderful way to improve the mindset and physical capabilities of your child by doing the following:
1. Kids learn how to physically defend themselves. The key here is that what is learnt is not used to be an agressor - it's used for self defence in a threatening situation. The right techniques and actions will help your child not become a victim.
2. Kids learn respect. This is achieved by fostering an environment that stresses discipline and proper etiquette. Respect for the teacher and fellow students results, which translates outside the classroom into daily life.
3. Boosts self confidence and self esteem. Healthy physical activity, combined with a sense of achievement, is vital in positively affecting the self perception of a child. Praise given for having completed a set of kicks well or memorized a form flawlessly is something that is well-deserved and improves sense of self.
4. Builds strength and power, forming a good foundation for the future. Martial arts and traditional kung fu is excellent in achieving physical strength and power, as well as good overall fitness. By building this foundation at an early age, children will develop more healthily than those who do not have regular exercise. It will also lay the groundwork for when and if they pursue sports in the future.
5.Kids learn how to become less violent. When children learn martial arts, they learn how to defend themselves. With this knowledge and self confidence, they're less likely to fight since they can test their boundaries in a safe and controlled environment of the classroom without the need to do it in the unpredictable environment of the schoolyard.
