Do Pi

Do Pi is a Chinese martial art that is considered a style of Kung Fu. It was developed by Chan Dau, a boxer who lived in the Canton province of southern China. Early in his life, he trained in different styles of martial arts including Western boxing, Hung Kuen, Choy Li Fut, and under a Buddhist monk for two years, Hop Gar (translated as the Fighting System of Gallant Knights).

Do Pi: The Style of the Way

Do Pi was created by Chan Dau upon his return from the Buddhist monastery. After winning a fight in a local competition, he opened up a new club to teach his style. This new style, an amalgamation of all of the styles he learned earlier in life, was called Do Pi. He remained a successful teacher and martial artist until his death.

Do Pi Techniques and Movements

It is a large movement, but extremely powerful when contact is made.

Stances tend to be deep, with an emphasis on simplicity combined with efficiency. Techniques and movements can be practiced in forms.
